General Description

The F75308 is a system hardware monitoring and automatic fan speed controlling IC specific designed for server market and etc.The F75308 can monitor several critical hardware parameters of the system, including voltage, temperature (11 bits) and fan speed which are very important for the system to work stably and properly.

An 8-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) was built inside F75308. Take F75308CU (64-TQFP) as an example, this chip can monitor up to 15 analog voltage inputs (including 3VCC, 3VSB & VBAT monitoring power), up to 14 fan tachometer inputs, 6 remote temperature sensors, one local sensor & manual temperature value (8 bit) comes from the outside. The remote temperature sensorcan be performed by thermistor, PNP-type transistor 2N3906 and CPU thermal diode. The F75308 can provide up to 11 sets of fan speed monitoring and use PWM duty cycle or linear analog outputs to automatically control fan speed. So the system can operate at the minimum acoustic noise. Users can set up the upper and lower limits (alarm thresholds) of all monitored parameters and this chipcan also issueseveral warning messages for system protection when there is something wrong with the monitoring items.

Besides these functions of monitoring and control, the F75308 also adds support for PECI 3.0 interface (provides 8 sets of addresses 30h~73h, see Bank 3 Index 11h for the detail), Intel IBEX, AMD TSI, case open, LEDs & WDT function. The F75308 meets SMBus 2.0 command to solve the problem of address conflicts by dynamically assigning a new unique address to F75308 after F75308’s UDID is sent.

Through the BIOS or application software, the users can read all the monitored parameters of system all the time. And a pop-up warning can be also activated when the monitored itemswere out of the proper/pre-setting range. The application software isFintek I2C FanControlTM. The F75308 is in the package of 28-pin SSOP, 48-pin LQFP, and 64-pin TQFP.
