The F81212 is a 2 driver / 2 receiver RS-232 transceiver and intended for all EIA-232-E and V.28 communications interfaces. The F81212 is suitable for those applications where ±12 V is not available.

F81212 includes two internal charge pump voltage converters that allow operation from a single 3.0V to 5.5V supply. These parts convert the 5V input power to generate the 2VCC (say nominal ±10 V) supplies required for RS-232 output levels. The F81212 is optimized for high speed with data rates up to 250kbps which easily meet the RS-232 high speed application.

The drivers feature true TTL/CMOS input compatibility, slew rate limited output, and 300Ω power off source impedance. The receivers can handle up to ±16.5 V input and have a 3kΩ to 7kΩ input impedance. The receivers also feature hysteresis to greatly improve noise rejection. The F81212 is available in space saving 16 TSSOP package.
