The F75209 is the upgraded version USB host charger & data switch which provides the extra mode selection pins to extent the design flexibility. It’s a combination of Hi-Speed USB data switches and a USB Dedicated Charger identification circuit which is so smart to recognize most of the mainstream handheld devices. By setting the USB Data pins (D+/D-) to the required voltage levels, the charging device recognize the voltage levels, and starts to draw the current to charge. It allows devices to draw current as much as using as the original adapter.
To provide better application flexibility the F75209 also equipped with a CEN# pin to control peripheral power switch component that is to control the VBUS charging current. 3 digital inputs (CTRL1/2/3) can be found at F75209. Using those 3 inputs to control the different charging modes under S0, S3 and S5, also CDP could be disabled too. In the transmission mode (S0), the F75209 acts as a USB bypass switch which connects the route between the USB Host and the USB Device, and allows the device using CDP mode to charge the handheld devices. In the charger mode (S5), the F75209 can detect the device automatically and provide the correct acknowledge signal to the device that is going to be charged even if the computer system has been shut down. In addition, the F75209 supports low & full speed USB KB mouse (USB 1.1) wake up function from S3 back to S0 stage.
With this new device identification engine, the F75209 can support most of the USB Battery Charging Specification world-wide including BC 1.2, Apple® charging spec (for i-Pad & i-Phones) and specs for Samsung Galaxy Tab. Apple Inc. has upgraded its charger output capacity for tablets to 12W output (maximum 2.4A @ 5V). The F75209 has a selection pin to select Apple 2.1A or 2.4A mode.
The F75209 also supports USB high-voltage dedicated charging port (HVDCP) interface IC for the Qualcomm® Quick ChargeTM 2.0 (QC 2.0) specification. The F75209 supports the full output voltage range of either Class A (5V/9V/12V) or Class B (5V/9V/12V/20). Optionally 20V can be inhibited for protecting the battery charger from the accidental damage. The F75209 automatically detects whether a connected portable device (PD) is Quick ChargeTM 2.0 capable before enabling output voltage adjustment. If a PD which is not compliant to Quick ChargeTM 2.0 is detected the F75209 disables the output voltage adjustment to ensure the safe operation with legacy 5 V only USB PDs.
The F75209 is suitable for all charger products with the USB interface. It provides enhanced ESD protection up to ±8kV on the DP and DM with the 16 QFN 4mm x 4mm package with the guarantee –40°C to 85°C temperature range. It requires minimum external circuits, which can reduce develop & production cost dramatically
