The F81436 is a 3 driver / 5 receiver RS-232 transceiver featuring a variable low voltage logic interface, down to 1.62V. The F81436 has a unique IO_PWR pin that allows both driver in & receiver out logic levels are programmable. This eliminates the need for additional voltage level shifter while interfacing with low voltage microcontroller or UARTs controller. The F81436 features a low power shutdown mode with SD# pin that reduces power dissipation to less than 5μW, ideally suited for battery-powered equipment. The extra charge pumps deliver true RS-232 driver output voltage from a single power supply at either 3.3V or 5V. I/O power (minimum 1.8V) is for the controller side’s power. The F81436 requires only four 0.1μF capacitors for the charge pump. This item converts the 5 V input power to the ±10 V (nominal) required for RS-232 output levels. The F81436 meets the EIA-232-E V0.28 specification while using a single digital 3.3V or 5 V supply and particularly suites for those applications where ±12V is not available. The drivers feature true TTL/CMOS input compatibility, slew rate limited output, and 300Ω power off source impedance. The receivers can handle up to ±16.5 V input and have a 3KΩ to 7KΩ input impedance. The receivers also feature hysteresis to greatly improve noise rejection. The F81436 is available in a space saving 40-QFN (5mm x 5mm).
