The F81212A is a 2 driver / 2 receiver RS-232 transceiver and intended for all EIA-232-E and V.28 communications interfaces. The F81212A is suitable for those applications where ±12 V is not available. The F81212A features a low power shutdown mode that reduces power dissipation to less than 5μW, ideally suited for battery-powered equipment.

F81212A includes two internal charge pump voltage converters that allow operation from a single 3.0V~5.5V supply and allow low voltage for TTL/logic interface. The F81212A has a low-power shutdown mode where the driver outputs & charge pumps are disabled. During shutdown mode, the supply current falls into 1µA. The F81212A is optimized for high speed with data rates up to 3Mbps which easily meet the RS 232 high speed application.

The drivers feature true TTL/CMOS input compatibility, slew rate limited output, and 300Ω power off source impedance. The receivers can handle up to ±16.5 V input and have a 3kΩ to 7kΩ input impedance. The receivers also feature hysteresis to greatly improve noise rejection. The F81212A is available in space saving 20 TSSOP packages.
