F75385R
General Description

The F75385 is a system hardware monitoring and automatic fan speed controlling IC specific designed for server market etc.The F75385 can monitor several critical hardware parameters of the system, including voltage, temperature and fan speed which are very important for the system to work stably and properly.

An 8-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) was built inside F75385.The chip can monitor up to 11 analog voltage inputs (including power 5VSB & VBAT monitoring), 8 fan tachometer inputs and4 remote temperature sensors. The remote temperature sensorcan be performed by thermistor, NPN-type transistor 2N3906 and CPU thermal diode. The F75385can provide 8 sets of fan speed monitoring and use PWM duty cycle or linear analog outputs to automaticallycontrol fan speed (By Thermal Patrol Mode and Speed Patrol Mode). So the system can operate at the minimum acoustic noise. Under “Thermal Patrol” mode, fan speed rotates according to temperature variation of CPU/GPU and system. As for Speed Patrol mode, it is to keep the fan speed rotate at a specific speed. Also the users can set up the upper and lower limits (alarm thresholds) of all monitored parameters and this chipcan also issueseveral warning messages for system protection when there is something wrong with monitored items. Besides these functions of monitoring and control, the F75385 also adds support for dual dynamic VID monitoring

Furthermore, the F75385 can uniquely serve as an ASF sensor to response ASF master’s request for the implementation of network management in OS-absent state. Through F75385’s compliance with ASF2.0 spec., network server is able to get all environmental status of the client in OS-absent state by PET frame values returned from F75385, such as voltages, temperatures, fan speed and case open status. And the F75385 meets SMBus 2.0 ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) command to solve the problem of address conflicts by dynamically assigning a new unique address to F75385 after F75385’s UDID is sent.

Through the BIOS or application software, the users can read all the monitored parameters of system all the time. And a pop-up warning can be also activated when the monitored item was out of the proper/pre-setting range. The application software could be Fintek's application software MyGuardTM, or other management application software. The F75385 is in the package of 56-pin SSOP and powered by 3.3VSB.
